As a strategy to cut through information fatigue and a diminished readership, illustrated cover designs were developed to elevate and add a visual component to a monthly, research publication containing complex information, and to provide commentary for the overall theme. A key element to the art direction involved collaborating with authors and editors to match the tone and content, and create an impactful style that resonates with the readership demographic.
Bold colours and provocative story telling was employed in creating a digital style that could be quickly iterated for tight deadlines or thematic variations.
